Spearsovations Year Two
The plan for Spearsovations in Year 2
June 1st will mark the first anniversary of Spearsovations. First and foremost, thanks to all subscribers, current and past, for your support and feedback so far. This has been an interesting project that has already greatly exceeded my expectations and I'm glad to have everyone along for the ride.
I've spent a lot of the last month or so assessing the past year of Spearsovations and figuring out what I'm going to focus on going forward. Initially I thought I would probably move to Substack or Patreon with how those platforms have developed, however with my plans I feel like Ghost is still adaptable and good as a vertical for our purposes. Captivate has been annoying, but fine, as a private podcast RSS host. I'll be going through and cleaning up subscriptions/feeds over the next week, SO PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH YOUR RSS.
FOUR WAYS SPEARSOVATIONS WILL BE CHANGING THIS YEAR
1) BULLETINS BECOME PERIODIC - I think it's no secret that weekly columns have gotten away from me this year. Some of it was losing momentum, some of it was real life getting in the way, and some was just general writer's block/dissatisfaction and I own all of it. Going forward, the Bulletin newsletter will be more of a periodic endeavor with no set schedule. This will allow me to write about the things I am passionate about without the self-imposed framework of once a week, 2-3k words.
2) SECOND WEEKLY STREAM RETURNS - Initially I wanted to stream twice a week but I couldn't figure out what to do with my second stream. With the impending release of Fight Forever on the 29th, I'm going to use the game as a frame to base this second stream around. Fridays at 12:30 (beginning next Friday), join me on Twitch or YouTube going through wrestling games, looking ahead to the weekend's shows and making sense of AEW's first video game.
3) MORE SHOW REPORTS - I have always enjoyed the "Instant Reaction" format of shows and missed doing them more often with Spearsovations. When there are big events I am not covering in other forms or for other outlets, I plan on doing 20-30 minute reports immediately after them or whenever my first opportunity arises.
4) LAUNCH OF MINI SERIES - Probably the thing I miss most from the content around Everything Elite were the miniseries. Some of them are still to be completed (Yes I fully intend on doing a This Is Sting this year), but there's something about a short focused series that I get invigorated by. As well, I find it a lot easier to integrate guests and others in my projects when it's smaller and more self contained.
In June, we will be starting Summer School. Over this spring, life has gotten in the way A LOT with my pro wrestling viewing. It's time for me to catch back up. Every few weeks (I'm planning for this to be every other week), I will cover a particular topic that I've been behind in, or am assigned by my guest. The first episode will cover Wrestlemania Weekend 2023, where I was in Greenville packing and moving with a Sinus Infection instead of consuming the biggest weekend of the year.
That's pretty much it. It's going to be a lot of fun. Thanks for joining me!
